Treat the frequency buttons as listening observations

Seven buttons play fixed-level tones from 125 Hz to 8 kHz. There is no calibrated threshold search, so the tool does not produce an audiogram or a hearing-loss measurement.

A repeatable check

  1. Use a quiet setting, correctly worn headphones, and low system volume. First confirm that ordinary audio plays normally.
  2. Select a channel before playing a frequency. Listen briefly, stop, and note what you heard without raising volume to chase a missing tone.
  3. Keep the setup unchanged for comparisons. If a result is surprising, check headphone fit and the output route before repeating.

What the result suggests

A frequency is much quieter than its neighbors
Headphone response, room noise, fit, and hearing can all contribute. Record the observation without assigning a hearing-loss category.
One channel seems absent
Run the stereo test to check routing and system balance first. This page cannot separate a playback fault from an ear-related difference.

What this cannot establish

A digital tone level is not dB HL. Hearing every button does not establish normal hearing, and missing a button does not diagnose hearing loss. Clinical assessment requires calibrated equipment and a suitable test procedure.

Which frequencies does this demonstration play?

The buttons play 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 Hz sine tones. The sweep moves from 125 Hz to 8 kHz over eight seconds. These are generated playback signals, not measurements of your ears or headphones.

How do I use the left and right controls?

Stop playback, choose Left, Right or Both, then start a tone. These controls choose the output channel for the next playback. Your device settings, mono-audio mode and speaker connections can affect where the sound comes from. Headphones make routing easier to check, but do not turn this into a hearing assessment.

What if I cannot hear a tone?

Stop the tone rather than increasing the volume to chase it. Check whether the browser is muted, the intended output device is selected and the connection is working. Headphones, speakers, room noise and personal perception all affect audibility, so a missing tone does not establish its cause.

Does this produce a hearing result?

No. The page generates tones but does not establish the sound pressure at your ear, measure a hearing threshold, create an audiogram or give a pass/fail result.
